Training Trafford provides an overview of the training available from a number of partners from across Trafford. The training courses and workshops are designed to meet the needs of Trafford’s Voluntary, Community and not-for profit sector whether your organisation is big or small.

The range of courses listed are designed to help you develop whether you are starting up a new group or an established social enterprise wanting to grow to the next level.

The Business Growth Hub is a community of specialists with a passion to help businesses including those working in the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector across Greater Manchester to realise their ambitions.

    Trafford Council have launched Train Trafford which lists courses available at Trafford Council throughout the year – courses include Adult Safeguarding Awareness, Challenging Behaviour and Learning Disabilities and many more, for more information and to sign up visit –

    Trafford Leisure Trust - Emergency First Aid at Work
    If your risk assessment indicates that first aid training covering emergency protocols only is sufficient for your workplace, this one day course will help you meet your regulatory requirements.
    Who should attend?
    This course is designed for people who want to receive training in emergency first aid and is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments.

    What will you learn?
    The content of this course provides basic life saving first aid and workplace health and safety regulations, covering the following:

  • The role of the first aider
  • Managing an emergency
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Bleeding (minor and severe)
  • Burns
  • Choking (adult)
  • Fainting
  • Health & Safety (first aid) regulations
  • Resuscitation (adult CPR)
  • Seizures (adult)
  • Shock
  • Unconscious casualty

  • Course duration: One day
    Cost: The course is priced at £70 per person
    Certification: Successful candidates will receive a certificate which is valid for three years.

    The Counselling and Family Centre

    Working with Addiction (4 day course) – we have a few places still available on our 4 day programme in April on the following dates:

    Thursday 12th April 2018

    Time: 9.30am to 4.30pm

    The course is suitable for anyone working either with those struggling with addiction and/or with people who are struggling with a loved one’s use of substances.

    Co-Dependency Within the Addicted Family System – Saturday 12th May 2018 at 9.30am to 4.30pm.

    This course is for anyone who already has a basic understanding and experience of the counselling process and is interested in how addictions affect the family both individually and as a system. The trainer is Vicky Abadi who currently works as our Families and Addiction Co-ordinator and who has 26 years experience of working with addictions.

    Using Creative Approaches with Clients – Saturday 16th June 2018 from 9.30am to 4.30pm

    This workshop is suitable for counsellors, psychotherapists and anyone working in similar support roles and caring professions who are interested and willing to use creative media in their work with adults and/or children and young people. This will be a messy workshop! The trainer is Penny Bullock, a very experienced counsellor and also a supervisor at CFC.

    A new course which has just been added to our training programme is:

    Introduction to Working with Diverse Sexualities which will take place on Saturday 21st July 2018 from 10am to 4pm.

    The course is for counsellors and other professionals who would like to refresh and broaden their knowledge about people who identify as LGBT+ sexual minority (GSM) clients. The trainer is Alex Sanderson- Shortt who is an experienced counsellor and trainer who specialises in LGBTQ and relationship therapy.

    The Google Bus - Stretford Mall
    The Google Bus is back and will be on the surface car park at Stretford Mall on Monday 9th April 2018 between 9am and 4:30pm, this time in conjunction with Lloyds bank. Free to attend just drop-in at any of the times below for support in certain areas.

    Trafford Domestic Abuse Service (TDAS) - Domestic Abuse Awareness Training
    Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS) is a registered charity offering support to individuals and families who are affected by domestic abuse. We support both female and male victims of domestic abuse who live or work in the Trafford area.

    Free Training Dates available for Domestic Abuse Awareness Training For Professionals and Volunteers.

    A bespoke training programme designed specifically to raise awareness and inform professionals and volunteers around the dynamics of domestic abuse:

  • Raise practitioners’ awareness of the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their families
  • Consider how we as practitioners respond to those experiencing domestic abuse
  • Increase participants’ ability to offer help and support to victims of domestic abuse

    Trafford Carers Centre - Carer Awareness Training
    Training for professionals
    Training courses are offered to professional bodies with sessions designed to enable you to better identify and support carers by:

  • Helping you to understand the caring role and the impact it has.
  • Discussing carer’s rights and the legislative response to carers.
  • Identifying poor practice and developing examples of good practice.
  • Producing an action plan to deliver targeted support in your professional environment.

  • The courses are suitable to anyone who may be working with ill, older or disabled people in a community, health or social care setting and engage with family, friends or neighbour that may be providing unpaid care.
    The course is also suitable to businesses, organisations and schools to help identify carers in your professional environment.

    Training for Carers
    Courses are designed to provide carers with skills to help them in their caring role or simply as a means to learn something new.
    Ad hoc courses also run throughout the year dependent on demand. The types of courses available cover:

  • stress management
  • first aid
  • moving and assisting
  • IT
  • painting and flower arranging
  • health awareness, either one-to-one or in group session

  • If there is something else you think would benefit a carer in learning which we don’t currently offer, where possible, we will try and provide it.

    Deaf Fellowship - Deaf Awareness Training
    DEAF work with various private and public sector organisations to provide Deaf Awareness Training to assist people in their understanding and to enable them to communicate with deaf and Hard of hearing people in the community.

    At the end of the sessions, you will be able to:

  • Understand basic deaf awareness
  • Learn how to recognise deafness
  • Understand Words/terms accepted and not accepted in deaf culture
  • How to communicate when meeting a deaf person
  • Get a deaf person’s attention
  • Basic signs/ BSL alphabet
  • We offer full and half day packages that are competitively priced and can be tailored to your needs. Our training can be delivered to small or large groups, at a venue and time convenient for you.

    Just Psychology - Training
    Our training aims to help those in different sectors to develop their awareness, knowledge, skills and confidence in working with children and families from Black and minority ethnic communities, and to innovate and share knowledge and expertise.

    We are always happy to discuss and develop ideas for bespoke training in line with an organisation’s requirements.
    We are able to deliver training on a range of topics such as:

  • ethnicity and normal adolescent development;
  • child rearing and parenting practices across cultures;
  • attachment across cultures;
  • racial and ethnic identity;
  • perceptions of disability across cultures;
  • the impact of migration on families;
  • psychometric assessment across cultures; and
  • facilitating engagement with local Black and minority ethnic communities

    Sale Moor Community Partnership - Community Courses and Activities in Sale Moor
    The Sale Moor Community Partnership and the Sale Moor Community Learning Centre is open daily from 9.30am-2.45pm for one-stop support and drop ins to use the learning centre when not in use.

    St Johns Centre - Community Courses in Old Trafford
    During the day the Centre offers a wide variety of courses and activities that help people build their skills and confidence, engage more fully in their community, and increase their chances of paid work. Courses generally run for one term, three times a year, but we also run shorter courses. The centre works in partnership with Trafford College Community Learning, the Workers’ Educational Association, Talk English, and independent tutors and trainers.
