Sale Public Realm and Movement Strategy Consultation – Have Your Say on improving Sale Town Centre

Trafford Council is seeking the views of members of the public, businesses and other Sale Town Centre key stakeholders in updating the Sale Public Realm and Movement Strategy that was undertaken in 2018. It has appointed Planit-IE Ltd and Civic Engineers to undertake the review and to help with the consultation.

The Strategy was the subject of significant public consultation and resulted in a series of potential interventions aimed at improving the town centre. The projects identified a series of improvements that could be made in the following areas; Ashfield Road / Claremont Road, Hayfield Street / Hereford Street, Northenden Road, School Road, Sibson Road, Springfield Road, Town Hall Junction and Waterside Plaza.

Given the time that has elapsed between the Strategy being completed and the Covid pandemic, the Council wants to update the Strategy to ensure it is still relevant, can support the recovery and focused on those areas that are most important to the public and other key stakeholders. The updated Strategy will then be used to try and secure funding to deliver some or all of the initiatives identified.

There are a number of key consultation dates associated with the review of the Strategy which include: 8th & 9th of December - Public Consultation walk-in
This will offer an opportunity to view information on the proposed projects, make comment and to talk through with the team. The event will be held in a shop unit at the top of School Road (no 85), with two sessions running each day at 12-2pm and then 5-7pm. A number of exhibition boards will set up around the shop unit that show the overall plan for the public realm as well the individual projects.
3rd to the 13th December - On-line Web Site
The boards will also be available to view through the ‘Citizens Space’ web site together with an online questionnaire and comments area for those who cannot make it to the events. The online web page is now available through the following link:
