THE TOM MORRIS COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

'Sale Rotary Club searches for our unsung local heroes'

The Tom Morris Community Service Award – named after a former Sale Rotarian, president and Paul Harris Fellow - is given annually to people who perform outstanding service in the Sale community. It is a “people’s award” for normally unsung heroes who persistently go the extra mile because they believe in what they do. As such, there are no qualifying criteria. It could be anyone who is appreciated enough to merit a nomination for the right reasons.

Sale Rotary Club has launched a two-month nomination period to find this year’s outstanding local ‘unsung hero’. The annual ‘Tom Morris Community Award’ is a ‘people’s honour’ for someone who gives dedicated community service because they believe in what they do and go the extra mile to help make Sale a better place to live. Named after distinguished former Sale Rotarian the late Tom Morris, the framed award names each year’s winner and they also receive a cash award and certificate.

Last year’s winner was Lily Lloyd, a volunteer for Trafford Foodbank, who dedicates a great deal of her time to supporting vulnerable people in the local community. Club President, Harvey Kesler, commented: “The Tom Morris award has been very successful since it was launched several years ago. The winners and commended individuals have been inspirational workers for our community in Sale. This year’s winner could be from any area of local life.”
