What is Social Value?

The third sector can play a powerful role in delivering local services and in transforming the service landscape bringing innovation, value for money and social benefits.

The new Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 places an additional duty on local authorities to secure greater social value when commissioning services. This should be advantageous to those third sector organisations in Trafford that are delivering locally and providing social, economic and environmental wellbeing.

Thrive Trafford is keen to support groups in demonstrating their social value and is working with Trafford Council and Trafford Partnership to help ensure that a cross Borough and consistent approach is developed to measuring social value and that the role of the third sector in achieving this is recognised.
