Early Help Hub Stay & Play Session Volunteer – Partington, Trafford Council

Summary of the Role

The Early Help Hubs offer a chance for pre-school children and their parents to attend their Stay and Play sessions. Their fun activity sessions enable parents/carers and children under 5 years to join in planned, stimulating activities to promote children’s learning and development such as arts & crafts, outdoor play, sand/water, stories/rhymes and singing, supporting children in meeting their developmental milestones.

These sessions also provide the opportunity for parents/carers to meet other families in their local area. The Early Help Hub Stay & Play Session Volunteer role is of great importance within our Early Help and Children’s Centres.

Main Tasks

Volunteers are needed at Partington’s Children’s Centre & Early Help Hub, 106 Central Road, Partington, M31 4FL

– Mondays 9:30am-11:00am and 13:00pm-14:30pm: Baby Stay & Play (Babies 0-12 months).
– Fridays 9.30am to 11.30am: Toddler Stay & Play (Children 0-5 years)

Volunteers assist in providing a friendly and welcoming service to the parents/carers and children who attend the Stay and Play sessions.

  • To help build and maintain positive relationships with the parents, carers and children who attend the Stay and Play sessions
  • To carry out a room risk assessment check before the children, parents and carers arrive
  • To safely set up the room with a range of interactive activities and tidy away after the sessions finish
  • To take a record of attendance for each session
  • To help plan for a range of activities for children using the facility, ensuring
    that their safety is always considered as a priority
  • To be sensitive to the needs of children, parents and carers using the facility
  • To refer any issues of concern regarding the children’s care to the appropriate member of our team

The role may provide valuable experience and skills to anyone looking to progress into work, especially work within an Early Help or Childrens setting

Role requirements

  • Confidence to lead a group and build a rapport with parents, carers and their children
  • Empathetic and understanding nature
  • Ability to model play with a diverse range of babies and children with their parents/carers
  • Able to understand and adhere to safeguarding procedures
  • Able to work with the Early Help Hub/Children’s Centre team to solve problems
  • Passion for volunteering and giving back to the local community
