Summary of the Role
Assisting The Hideaway team to provide a high level of service to our visitors in our educational play centre and cafe. Specific roles vary according to your interest and strengths but can include working in either the Play Centre or the Café as needed. Jobs include tidying, supervising play areas and engaging with families in the play centre.
You can support with crafts, messy play, sports or song time sessions. If working in the Café, you may provide support to the team, delivering food orders, ensuring food preparation and dining areas are clean, tidy and well stocked. This includes wiping down tables, stocking condiments, clearing the dining and serving areas and washing pots in the kitchen.
Main Tasks
- Assisting in the supervision of the play and activity areas to ensure that children are playing safely and adhering to the ‘Rules of Play’.
- Assisting in running play, craft and other activities for Children with the Hideaway Assistants, Creative Lead and Family Team.
- Ensuring safeguarding policies and best practices are followed in the centre.
- Helping to make customers aware of daily activities and any future events taking place.
- Helping with cleaning duties, ensuring areas are clean and at a high standard at all times, including washing up and operating the dish washer.
- Helping with serving food and clearing tables when required.
- Helping ensure the cafe areas are well stocked as required.
- Assist in building relationships with parents and visitors, playing with kids and making people feel welcome.
- Communicating with customers in a pleasant and courteous manner and in line with our values and ethos.
- Reporting any Health and Safety issues maintenance issues to Hideaway General Manager/Assistant Managers.
- The role involves working with children and vulnerable adults, and the responsibilities to safeguarding that this involves.
- To undertake training as required including a mandatory induction.
