TRC Sexual Abuse and Rape Support
TRC Sexual Abuse & Rape Support Greater Manchester have been hosting a small arts and crafts group for Asylum Seeking Women. The Group runs every Monday from 10:00am to 11:30am at the Ashley Hotel in Hale, Altrincham. The group size varies each week, ranging from 2 to 15 participants. It’s a welcoming, safe space for women to step out of their rooms, meet new people, enjoy creative activities, and engage in friendly conversation over hot drinks and snacks.
We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic volunteer with a willingness to embrace a feminist, trauma-informed way of working, to assist with our women’s craft group and help ensure it runs smoothly.
Responsibilities include:
Making drinks, putting out snacks, setting up and clearing away craft materials and speaking with the women who attend. We also need someone on hand to ensure the group continues to run smoothly if our main staff member is called away briefly or needs to step out with an attendee.
We do not ask for any prior experience and we encourage women of all backgrounds and experience to apply.
However, while not essential, we are actively looking for applicants who can speak other languages. We have a particular need for Arabic, Kurdish and/or Farsi speaking women. Anyone with an interest arts and crafts is also encouraged to apply.
We welcome applications from ex-service users, however we do ask that it has been at least 6 months since your last appointment or contact with us.
