Advancing Equality Grants Programme 2013/14

Thrive is delivering Trafford Council’s 2013-14 Advancing Equality Grants programme and is looking for organisations and groups to come forward and deliver projects that will help eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation and advance equality in the borough. The Equalities Grant Programme 2013-14 is worth £40,000 and voluntary and community sector groups are invited to bid for grants in the region of £5,000-£15,000 and deliver projects which address inequalities faced by sections of the community in Trafford. However if a project proves exceptional in delivering the Equality Grant aim, larger amounts may be awarded. Hate Crime is defined as: “...any incident, which may or may not constitute a criminal offence, which is perceived by the victim or any other person as motivated by prejudice or hate.” To tackle the issue of Hate Crime in Trafford, the Advancing Equality Grants will be particularly interested in activities and projects that:

We would welcome projects that reduce hate crime with currently under-represented groups. Some groups we know about are for example: - Muslims; Young People; Disabled People (for example people with learning disability or physical impairment) but your experience may indicate other groups. Thrive has organised a drop in session where applicants will be able to get independent advice and assistance on applying for the grants. The drop-in will take place between 4-7pm on Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in the Altrincham room, 5th floor, Sale Point 126-150 Washway Road, Sale M33 6AG. All groups wanting to apply should first read all the guidance notes before completing every section on the application form.
