Free Training for Carers, Personal Assistants and Their Employers

Trafford Centre for Independent Living (Trafford CIL) has been awarded funding by Skills for Care to provide free Health and Social Care training for Carers, Personal Assistants and their individual employers. As an experienced provider of training for disabled people and their staff, and as the only provider in the North West to be awarded this funding, the organisation is in a unique position to deliver person-centred training focussed on the needs of disabled people and their immediate support networks. Between August and October 2013, Trafford CIL will initially host twice-weekly sessions at their offices in Sale, as well as a number of outreach sessions within Trafford. The courses cover a range of subjects, from The Role of the Personal Assistant and Moving and Handling to person centred courses such as Autism, Diabetes, Cerebral Palsy and Dementia Awareness. All of the courses are CPD certified and use innovative e-learning resources with tutor support and facilitators to assist in the completion of each module. Each course takes roughly 2-3 hours to complete, and can be done over as many sessions as necessary. The sessions commence on Thursday 1st August and will run every Tuesday 1- 4 PM and every Thursday 10 -1 PM at Marshall House on Park Avenue in Sale, as well as Wednesday 10-1PM at Trafford Carers Centre starting on 7th August. In September, courses will also be held at Rethink in Hulme. The number of weekly sessions is expected to increase with demand. To secure a place on any of the courses, please contact Sarah Leach on 0161 850 0645 or email maps@traffordcil.co.uk
