Get Involved – ‘The Recovery Walk’ – Saturday 13th September 2014

Trafford Council is urging residents in Trafford to get involved in a walk taking part in Greater Manchester to raise awareness of substance use disorders and recovery from addiction.

The event is organised by the UK Recovery Walk Charity and is held annually in a different city each year. The event takes place during Recovery Month and has come to Manchester after a successful bid from the Greater Manchester Recovery Federation.

The event on Saturday 13th September 2014 will start and finish at the Castlefield Bowl outdoor amphitheatre.

Executive Councillor for Adult Social Care and Community Well being, Michael Young, said: “Being able to recognise and celebrate individual recovery journeys in this way is important with so many people taking part, it provides an ideal opportunity to improve understanding of the difficulties facing those suffering from substance misuse problems, their friends and families.”

To get involved, or for information, visit www.ukrecoverywalk.org or email karen.cooney@trafford.gov.uk or call 0161 912 3431.
