The Better Together shortlist includes projects in Newton Heath, Gorton, Wigan, Salford, Trafford and Stockport.

Nine projects have been shortlisted in the Better Together campaign and have a chance to get up to £25,000 worth of funding. Selected by a panel of judges, the shortlist includes projects in Newton Heath, Gorton, Wigan, Salford, Trafford and Stockport. Members of the public now have the opportunity to get behind their local project with an online vote that will decide the winner . Better Together, a partnership between home insurance specialist, Together Mutual, and the M.E.N, aims to support projects and initiatives that can make a real difference to an area and the lives of its residents. Chris McElligott, head of marketing at Together Mutual, and one of the judges on the panel, said: “We have been overwhelmed with both the volume and standard of entries, and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to send us their ideas. “Creating this shortlist proved a very difficult task, but we feel we’ve a good variety of project types and causes with the finalists. “As we open the campaign to the public vote, we hope to see communities really get behind the initiative and support the entry they feel most deserving. Even if there isn’t a shortlisted option in their area, everyone can have a say in the final outcome.” For further details on the entries, and to vote, visit www.togetherinsurance.co.uk/better
