Health and Wellbeing Board – Third Sector Representative Job Advert

The Trafford Health and Wellbeing board is seeking to recruit a third sector representative to join the board from November 2013. The role will involve championing the voice of the voluntary sector and ensuring that this is fed back into the work of the board. Trafford's new Health and Wellbeing Board has strong powers to help identify and meet needs across Trafford and will work together to tackle health inequalities. The Health and Social Care Act, 2012 requires Trafford Council to establish a Health and Wellbeing Board which is a statutory committee of the Council. The core purpose of Trafford’s Health and Wellbeing Board is to provide leadership to improve efficiency, secure better care, health and wellbeing outcomes for the local community and reduce health inequalities. The Health and Wellbeing Board will be expected to encourage effective democratic, patient and carer input into the commissioning of relevant services. The Board will become the forum through which those responsible for associated commissioning decisions are held to account and will complement the work of the Council’s Health and Social Care Scrutiny Committee. Functions The key functions of the Health and Wellbeing Board include:

As a member of the board, you will be an effective leader able to: draw upon your values, strengths and abilities to commission high standards of service; engage people by the way you communicate, behave and interact with others; think strategically in order to plan flexibly for the longer term, being continually alert to finding ways to improve; drive and contribute to the creation of a compelling vision for the future, communicating this within the organisation and externally with the public, partners and key stakeholders. An induction package will be available for the successful candidate. Board meetings take place every two months and last approximately 3 hrs.
