Meet the Commissioner Event Success!
Thrive Trafford working in partnership with blueSCI were pleased to hold a ground breaking Trafford Meet the Commissioner Event on Wednesday 18th September 2013. The event was held at Sale Waterside and attended by over 40 third sector organisations, and 15 commissioners and procurement officers from Trafford Council and the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). This is the first time all have gathered in the room together on this scale to ‘begin the conversation’ around commissioning and how the third sector can find out about changes taking place, emerging opportunities, and how to move to a position to deliver more public services in the future. The event was opened by Stuart Webster, Director blueSCI and Thrive Contract Manager Chris Hart then gave an overview of the current commissioning environment and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. This was then followed by presentations from the Joint Strategic Commissioning Group including Linda Harper, Jill Colbert, Lisa Davies and Sandy Bering, and Gemma Isles from Procurement. The presentation slides are available for download below. Commissioning Presentation Procurement Presentation The presentations were then followed by a Q&A session and a workshop involving third sector organisations, commissioners and procurement working together to consider actions to help improve commissioning and support more third sector organisations to take advantage of tenders or contracts, promote closer working and help remove barriers that exist. Key points that came from the discussions can be found here. Thrive Trafford is now planning follow up support with partners. One of the early actions was a request for a Commissioning and Procurement Jargon Buster. This has been produced and is also available for download.
