Thrive Funding Fair Attracts Over 40 Local Groups.

The Thrive Funding event held on Friday 3rd October was a great success. Our mini-funding fair focussed on a ‘Magnificent Seven’ of funders who offer small grants for community projects, and experts were on hand from three of these (European Social Fund, Equity Foundation, and THT Community Panels). The afternoon saw Thrive HQ in Sale busy with representatives from groups demonstrating the breadth and depth of Trafford’s Third Sector, eager for funding to support projects ranging from the environmental (a newly-formed park group) to the creative (a suburban arts trail) to the cutting-edge technological (a mobile ‘app’ helping people with dementia to cope with everyday tasks). The funder representatives enjoyed guiding applicants one-on-one, and a group workshop complemented the day’s activity, with community group members sharing challenges and insights around making outcomes relevant for funders.

The positive buzz of the event was reflected in the feedback, with 100% of respondents rating the event either ‘good’ or ‘excellent’, 90% leaving the event with greater confidence in their ability to apply for funding, and a similar percentage considering applying to at least one of our ‘Magnificent Seven’. All of the groups that attended will be contacted to see what help Thrive can give them to develop their ideas into fundable bids bringing more external investment into Trafford.

One last note: the success of the event means we will be looking to offer more opportunities through the year for applicants to meet Thrive and funder experts. Watch this space for news in the next weeks and months!
