Voluntary Sector Grants Still Available For South Area Groups

Thrive Trafford is helping to deliver Trafford Councils 2013-14 Voluntary Sector Grants that will distribute £160,000 to community, voluntary and charity sector groups who want to run projects that will enhance their local communities. The South area still has £20,000 to allocate for voluntary and community groups to apply to fund projects that will benefit the South area. There 4 overarching themes to the grants this year- Adult Health & Lifestyle; Local Economy, Skills and Volunteering; Community Safety and Crime and Child Poverty. Furthermore the Locality Partnership have identified 3 key issues they would like projects to tackle- Child Obesity, Intergenerational Activities and Youth Activities. The ‘South’ area includes the following wards-Altrincham, Bowdon, Broadheath, Hale Barns, Hale Central and Timperley Village. Applications will be shortlisted against the criteria of the programme and those successful projects will then be invited to attend the Participatory Budgeting event to be held from 10am-4pm on Saturday 18th January 2014 at Altrincham Town Hall. At the Participatory Budgeting event, project groups will have stalls displaying information on their organisations and the project they are hoping to gain funding for. Members of the public are invited to drop into the Town Hall anytime between 10am and 4pm to view the project information and then vote for their favourite projects they feel will benefit their local area. The highest scoring projects will then be awarded the funding to deliver their schemes. A drop in session for those who would like advice on completing an application will be held from 4-6pm at Sale Point on Washway Road on Tuesday 19th November 2013, and 3-5pm on Friday 22nd November 2013 at Altrincham Library 20 Stamford New Rd, Altrincham WA14 1EJ. Additionally support will be provided by Thrive Trafford should you be unable to attend the drop in session. The deadline for applications is 5pm Friday 29th November 2013. Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.
