Trafford Rape Crisis are holding two new Volunteering Cafés this January.
Trafford Rape Crisis will be holding 2 ‘Volunteering Cafés’ on Monday 15 January 2018 and Wednesday 24 January 2018 for you find out further information about TRC as well as join some of the current volunteers for some pizza and a quiz! Trafford Rape Crisis (TRC) is a service run by women for all women survivors of sexual violence. In this recruitment TRC are looking for motivated and committed women to join their feminist Collective and volunteer with them.
Volunteering with TRC can include:
• Volunteering on both their helplines, (generic and Black, Asian and minority ethnic), to provide essential support for women and girls who have been raped or sexually abused whether recently or in the past.
• Providing email support to women who have experienced the above
• Fundraising and event organising
• Campaigning, Press and Media
• Publicity and supporters’ newsletters
• Funding and bid writing
• Monitoring and Evaluation
• Administrative support
• IT
• Human Resources
• Garden maintenance
TRC would like to encourage women of all backgrounds and experience to apply. TRC will provide an in-depth volunteer training programme about TRC to equip volunteers. A willingness/desire to embrace a feminist way of working, and a commitment to be part of a Collective supporting women and girls affected by rape and sexual violence is most important.
In return, you will receive on-going support in your role, access to internal and external training and a chance to really make a difference to the lives of vulnerable women and girls.
TRC ask for a minimum commitment from their trained volunteers to participate in your chosen working groups for at least a year. If you are volunteering on the helpline(s), then you will need to make a commitment to do one helpline session (3 hours) every 3 weeks.
Being part of a Collective also requires you to help run the organisation and you will therefore need to attend monthly Steering Group meetings.
TRC’s in-depth training programme will take place over 6 weeks (usually Saturdays from 10am-4pm) and topics include; Rape Crisis philosophy, challenging rape myths, sexual abuse of girls and working with adult survivors of childhood abuse, anti-oppressive working (race/sexuality/age/class/disability) and listening skills.
The training will be starting in February 2018 and will send out exact dates shortly.
