Social Enterprise
Social enterprises are businesses which trade for a social or environmental purpose, and re-invest the majority of their profits to support their mission.
Social enterprises contribute to reducing economic inequality, improving social justice, and supporting environmental sustainability.
Our aim is to support the development of more and growth of existing social enterprises in Trafford and the benefits these can bring to Trafford’s communities.
If you are a social enterprise or social entrepreneur who is looking for support, please contact our Capacity Building and Funding Adviser, Caroline Platt
Trafford Social Enterprise Network
Thrive Trafford are developing a new Trafford Social Enterprise Network (TSEN) as a place for social entrepreneurs and social enterprises to meet. We want this Network to be shaped by your needs, and envisage this will provide an opportunity to share information, learning and best practice; peer support; access to training and development opportunities including social investment; and a first step in exploring Trafford becoming a Social Enterprise Place to increase the market for Trafford social enterprises.
If you would like to be part of the new TSEN and receive further information, please sign up here.
Community Asset Transfer
Community Asset Transfer (CAT) is a process that allows a community organisation to take over publicly-owned land or buildings in a way that recognises the public benefits that the transfer will bring.
CAT can be achieved in a number of different ways at the request of the community – the transfer of title for outright ownership, the use of a long-term lease or management agreements.
Thrive can work with Trafford Council and other partners to give VCFSEs advice on the CAT process and in managing and developing their own buildings as financially sustainable assets.
