Safer Streets – Launch Event on 4th October 2022 at Trafford College

We belong here. Safer Streets for Women and Girls to live active lives

You are invited to help shape a new project in Trafford, funded by the Safer Streets Fund, exploring ways to make public spaces and streets safe and welcoming places where women and girls feel they belong and can be active citizens. Please confirm your attendance here.
Date: 4th October 2022 at 5.30pm at Trafford College, Talbot Road Stretford M32 0XH

This event provides an opportunity to find out about the project ambitions, the partners involved so far and how you can help inform, shape and support this important initiative. The local community will be at the heart of the project which will be shaped through a series of Autumn conversations and events. Everyone has a role to play, whether you are an individual with a connection to Trafford, someone who is passionate about this agenda or an organisation wanting to play a part for women and girls and active lives.

Trafford is renowned for its sports and culture and were recently the proud hosts for the opening game of the Women’s Euros on 6 July 2022. Local women and girls and women’s organisations have told us that this presents a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity to raise awareness of women and girls’ experience of violence against women and girls, in particular street harassment, as a key barrier to their access and participation in football, sports and cultural events.  The project builds on the work of the Trafford Council Equality and Safety survey from last year, with the data gathered being used to inform the project.

The event is hosted by the Trafford Safer Streets partnership which includes GreaterSport and Open Data Manchester.
